Welcome to my adventures as a mathematical biology graduate / medical student. I'm not entirely sure what I've gotten into, but I'm starting in an MD/PhD this July. As there may be other prospective MD/PhD students or people with interests in mathematical biology research... I wanted to share my journey.
The second reason is that I want to encourage other students who are switching fields, or taking on something they would otherwise not have imagined themselves entering. I actually have an undergraduate degree in chemistry, emphasis biochemistry, and I'm still not entirely sure how I ended up deciding to do mathematical biology and medicine - or how all the pieces fit together! I'm switching fields and applied mathematics is, to be quite frank, both beautiful and intimidating.
