Started surgery on Monday. To my surprise, I have really enjoyed it. I find the operating room both calm and interesting. I enjoy the focus and sequential nature, having one surgery after the other rather than constant interruption of medicine, as well as the spatial and skills aspect.
Today, I asked to observe anesthesia and performed my first intubation! (Admittedly, the anesthesiologist positioned the head and visualized the larynx, the vocal cords, and I just slipped the breathing tube in, but I was happy).
