lonely

Being in the hospital is strangely lonely, despite being surrounded with people.  We are all too busy trying to stay afloat ourselves to deeply participate in the lives of our co-workers and colleagues, and yet there is a camaraderie of shared hardship that I have not truly experienced.

I miss my old friends and the people from outside the "land of sick people."  I miss being eccentric and silly and doing things that were not life and death, health and disability, extreme joy or pain.

There is something to be said for the everyday.
