When I was applying for MSTP programs, I remember agonizing so much over which school to go to, what would be best.
I could have made better choices, negotiated more, asked more advice rather than be anxious and scared on my own. The head of the lab I was in advised me, Whatever choice you make, you will retroactively justify it as a good choice. That much was true.
This time, there are nothing but good choices. But I will agonize nonetheless - but this time, I will ask more advice and negotiate. And I know that I must follow that internal compass and vision, asking, "What am I trying to accomplish, and what place will help me best on that journey?"
It is rather exciting in many ways. Perhaps it is the last time I will be at this place of complete uncertainty.
