I had the opportunity to see a postdoc I worked with when a postbacc at the NIH.
It was strange. I remember so often staring at the books and overhearing the conversations in the lab and having no idea whatsoever what anyone was talking about.
I think I might be able to read those books, understand those equations, talk about those topics nowadays - not completely, but with confidence I could learn the material.
How odd it was to talk with him more as a peer than as a lost newly-graduated-from-college student. But maybe I did learn something in all these years.
